‘Learning through fun’ is becoming a popular concept and so we find a lot of educative toys in the market. Understanding this trend, Santhosh Subramanian, an engineer who worked for a multinational company decided to start ‘Bambaram’ an innovative venture. In a chat with him where he shared his views with Chennai Chimes he stated that he felt that children should enjoy the benefits of all the toys that are available and he felt the only way was to have a toys library. Chennaites heard that last Sunday morning a 15 kms stretch of the Chennai Coast line from Marina Beach to Injambakkam was cleaned and there were around 2400 volunteers who collected 17.6 tonnes of garbage in over 1700 bio degradable bags. Early morning 6 a.m. saw these people at the beaches and they tirelessly picked trash littered all over for 3 hours. An effort that needs to be applauded for there were so many different groups who volunteered to join in and the participants’ age ranged from 5 – 86. My name is Anne Tiburtius and I am 44 years old, which means that I must have experienced at least 44 Christmases, even if my memories of some of them are a bit hazy.
